Editorial Standards
How we research, write, and publish content — and what we promise our readers.
EarthyWoof exists to help eco-conscious dog owners make better, more sustainable choices — not to lecture, not to greenwash, and not to push products we wouldn't stand behind. These editorial standards exist to hold us to that promise.
Our Editorial Voice
EarthyWoof is written and edited by Bondo Guruli, the site's editorial voice and founder. Bondo researches, writes, and curates content on eco-conscious dog ownership — and does so transparently.
What Bondo is: a curious, careful researcher and writer who is deeply engaged with the eco-conscious dog ownership space — its products, its science, its labels, and its debates.
What Bondo is not: a licensed veterinarian, a certified animal nutritionist, a certified dog trainer, or a credentialed sustainability scientist. EarthyWoof does not claim any of these qualifications, and no content on this site should be read as advice from a certified professional.
For veterinary, nutritional, medical, or behavioral guidance specific to your dog, always consult a qualified, licensed veterinarian. EarthyWoof content is informational — not professional advice.
How We Research Content
Every EarthyWoof guide and product recommendation follows the same research-first process:
Primary Source Research
Where relevant, we reference published studies, academic research, industry certifications, and manufacturer documentation. We cite our sources and flag when something is our interpretation of the available evidence, rather than established consensus.
Third-Party Certifications
We take verified third-party certifications seriously as evidence of genuine sustainability practices — OEKO-TEX, GOTS, B Corp, USDA Organic, and equivalent standards. We explain what these certifications mean and what they don't cover, so readers can make informed judgments.
Greenwashing Scrutiny
We actively evaluate products and brands for greenwashing — vague language, unverifiable claims, and misleading eco-marketing. When we identify a claim as unsubstantiated, we say so directly. We do not recommend products whose primary eco-credential is a marketing claim with no verifiable backing.
Practical Usability
A product can be eco-certified and still perform poorly for dogs. We evaluate both the sustainability credentials and the practical usefulness of any product we recommend. The best eco-friendly product is one that owners will actually use — consistently.
Affiliate & Commercial Relationships
EarthyWoof participates in affiliate marketing programs, including but not limited to Amazon Associates and other eco-product affiliate networks. When you purchase a product through a link on this site, EarthyWoof may earn a small commission — at no additional cost to you.
Our editorial standards require that:
- Products are selected based on research merit, not on commission rates or affiliate revenue potential.
- We do not accept free products in exchange for positive coverage, unless this relationship is clearly disclosed in the content.
- Affiliate links are clearly disclosed at the top of any content that contains them — not buried in footnotes or disclosed only at the page level.
- When a product has a lower-commission or non-affiliate alternative that is demonstrably better, we recommend the better product.
- We do not write sponsored content that is presented as independent editorial without clear disclosure.
For the full standalone affiliate disclosure, see our Affiliate Disclosure page.
GreenWag relationship disclosure: EarthyWoof and GreenWag are related brands under common ownership. When GreenWag products are mentioned on EarthyWoof, this relationship is always disclosed in the content. We only mention GreenWag when it is genuinely relevant to the content at hand. See our GreenWag Disclosure for full details.
Veterinary & Health Content Disclaimer
EarthyWoof publishes general informational content about eco-conscious dog care. This content is intended for educational purposes only and does not constitute veterinary, medical, nutritional, or professional animal-care advice.
Content on this site that touches on dog health, nutrition, ingredients, or behavior:
- Is not a substitute for professional veterinary advice tailored to your individual dog.
- Should not be used to diagnose, treat, or manage any health condition in your dog.
- May not apply to dogs with specific health conditions, breeds, ages, sizes, or dietary needs.
- Is based on our best research at time of publication and may not reflect the most current scientific consensus.
Always consult a licensed veterinarian for medical, nutritional, or behavioral decisions specific to your dog. This is a standing disclaimer that applies to all health-adjacent content on EarthyWoof.
Content Update Policy
Product availability, certifications, formulations, and brand practices change. EarthyWoof aims to keep its content current, but we cannot guarantee that all information is up to date at all times.
Articles that contain product recommendations or time-sensitive information display a "Last Updated" date. When we become aware that a product has changed materially — a new formulation, a changed certification, a discontinued line — we update or annotate the relevant content.
If you notice outdated information on EarthyWoof, please let us know. We genuinely appreciate reader feedback that helps us keep the content accurate.
We do not fabricate publication or update dates, and we do not republish old content with new dates without making substantive changes to the content itself.
Corrections Policy
When we make a factual error, we correct it — clearly and without pretending the error didn't happen. Significant corrections are noted at the top of the relevant article with a brief explanation of what changed and why.
To flag an error, email us at earthywoof@gmail.com. We review all correction requests and respond where appropriate.
